Even though the initial launches of Radeon X800 will use 256MB of GDDR3, before the end of the year we also anticipate a 512MB revision. Furthermore, we will almost certainly see Radeon X800 SE with 128MB of DDR1; which will also debut with much a lower clockspeed. NV40 breaks NVIDIA's naming scheme with the removal of FX from their GeForceFX moniker. Will we see a separate GeForce and GeForceFX in the NV4x GPU family? It appears that is also speculation. R423, the PCI-Express (PCX) version of R420, is scheduled to launch June 14th. Specifications on R423 are identical to R420, and the cards will also carry the Radeon X800 product name. NVIDIA's bridged PCI-Express cards will launch April 13th along with the AGP versions. RV380 and RV370 will also receive new product names, as Radeon X600 and Radeon X300, respectively. Ja vervelend als dit klopt, dan moet je weer gaan kiezen, of een NV40 of een R420 of wachten tot Juni en dan een Radeon X800 XT kopen.. damn... :x

Die grafiek is te mooi om waar te zijn, ik denk dus zelf gemaakt, ik geloof nooit in zon'n enorme prefromance boost. Als het wel zo is dan is die NV40 echt een beest

50%? soms bijna 2x zo snel zo lijkt het. Meestal gaat het niet zo hard hoor in dit soort applicaties waar CPU ook een rol speelt, maar bv in shaders en in zware engine die veel meer gpu afhankelijk zijn (Far Cry) verwacht ik zeker 2 a 3 maal snelheidswinst. Anderszijds "eis" toch ook wel minimaal 2x meer snelheid in Far Cry anders schiet je er nog weinig mee op.

UT'03 is geen Dx9-spel ... 't is meer Dx8+ Van een echt Dx9 spel wil ik een test van zien voordat ik die prestaties in die grafiek geloof. Een Dx8-spel testen met dit soort kaarten is net zoiets als Quake 2 testen met de huidige kaarten. Je krijgt mooie hoge getallen maar over de prestaties van de onderdelen die straks gaan tellen (ie : de shaders e.d.) zegt het geen ene *bliep* (en juist op dat punt is hun vorige kaart net de mist in gegaan ... ) Daarnaast is de render-engine van UT'04 al aardig geoptimaliseerd ... dus ik zou verwachten dat een 9800XT daar ook al wat betere cijfers kan neerzetten. // -- (demo)filmpjes van de NV40 : http://developer.nvidia.com/object/sdk_home.html#NV40_Video_Clips

tussen haakjes : Mark Rein is geen programmeur van Epic eerder PR/producer ... ik durf te wedden dat ie zelfs geen regel kan programmeren. Laat dat maar aan de andere grootheden van die club over zoals Tim Sweeney & Dan Vogel ... ;) Hij kan dan wel enthousiast zijn over de nieuwe hardware, maar dat zegt niet veel meer dan dat iemand als ons 'enthousiast' is over wat specs op papier ...
