Ja hopelijk klopt dat, ik dacht eerst dat dit artikel een samenraapsel was van al het bestaande nieuws van oa de Inquirer, maar dat van die ps3 is nieuw.

Tja het blijven geruchten, ik hoop dat het waar is. The value add aspects of the hardware could also be fairly attractive, and we would like to see things like saved settings associated with applications (like NVIDIA does) make their way into this cards featureset as well. Another option S3 has open to is will be to use an S8 Nitro-like core for integrated graphics on VIA boards (since VIA owns S3, it is very likely that this will happen: Savage chips are currently used). If S3 can offer better speed and feature/API support than Intel's Extreme Graphics, it is very likely that VIA could help to put a dent in the Intel integrated graphics juggernaut. If there is one thing that has always been extremely lacking it is integrated graphics quality. What it all comes down to is that the DeltaChrome does have potential. It may be a bit to early to tell exactly where that could take us, but more competition in the graphics market place is good for everyone. [/quote:236d1da945] Ik vind het jammer dat S3 zo laat komt met deze kaart, zelfde geld voor de Volario van XGI, een jaar eerder en het was een stuk itteressanter geweest. Echter als de prijs gunstig word is het een leuke middenklasser

Ik denk het niet. Zelfs voor een middenklasser is de kaart te laat. Het is nu nog een engineering model... dat bedoelt is als antwoord op de FX 5700 Ultra die in november in de winkels lag. De kaart had minstens op het niveau moeten liggen van een FX 5900 XT om serieus als middenklasser te gelden. Als de kaart dan over een week of wat ( 4 ~ 12 ??? )uitkomt dan was het nog wat geweest. Nu is het IMHO helemaal niks. Waarschijnlijk moeten ze zich met die kaart werpen op de Low Budget markt en daar koopt helemaal niemand een S3. Persoonlijk denk ik dat ze die kaart niet echt gaan promoten. Het zullen gewoon een aantal samples zijn om ervaring op te doen. Mogelijk is dat de reden van een early release naar twee websites (Anand en Techreport) om te laten zien dat men aan het werk is. Anders is het niet slim om weer een product met mankementen te laten testen.

Goed punt, de kaarten zijn inderdaad nog niet eens te krijgen, tegen de tijd dat ze te koop zijn dan komen de nieuwe serie kaarten van nVidia en ATI er al weer aan. de chip kan echter nog wel itteressant zijn als on-board oplossingen voor bepaalde moederborden, dat kaart anandtech ook aan.

op hwi hebben ze ook de fx5500 bekeken, 30 euro duurder dan een fx5200 en bijna net zo beroerd met spellen. Zonde van je geld dus. als je spellen speelt moet je meer uitgeven, speel je geen spellen kun je veel minder uitgeven :) oh, ik moest van RD nog zeggen dat de inq weer een artikeltje had, staat ondertussen ook al op t.net ;) http://www.tweakers.net/nieuws/31576 wat ik lees op b3d, als het waar is, vermoeden ze dat de kaart 4 quads heeft (4 X 4 pipelines = 16) en de kaart heeft dus 12 aktief zodat de yields erg goed zullen zijn voor de core (één stukke quad en de kaart blijft bruikbaar) Benieuwd wat er gebeurt met de kaarten met 4 goede quads ;) softmodje ??

Ik ben inderdaad bang dat er niet veel nieuws is op Cebit 2004, Slashhead en Ik gaan er met de Computer! Totaal Crew (o.a. Jeroen de Jager) Vrijdag heen zoals HJS al aangeeft, net als voorgaande jaren zal ik weer een speciale CeBit 2004 topic openen met foto's die ik daar schiet. Nu maar hopen dat het wat meer word dan een paar PCI-Express moederborden. de R420 zal wel achter gesloten deuren wezen en als Slashhead daar binnen komt met zijn perskaart dan komt hij er niet uit met info die we mogen posten (NDA :( )

Nvidia will unveil its next-generation graphics chip - almost certainly the long-awaited NV40 - on 13 April. So claims a source close to the company cited by Alas, the source proved unable to say much about the chip itself. Unconfirmed reports from a variety of websites suggest it will be a DirectX 9.0 part with 16 parallel pipelines running through enhanced pixel shaders. The NV40 is not expected to support PCI Express directly but ship with an AGP-to-PCI Express bridge chip. One source Hachman spoke to said the chip's AGP bus will be boosted to an unofficial 16x spec. to match the needs of PCI Express. Certainly, Nvidia's first line of PCI Express parts - the GeForce PCX 5950, PCX 5750, PCX 5300 and PCX 4300 - are all AGP 8x chips that ship with a bridge part. If the NV40 is launched next month, it marks the end of a long wait for the part, which was originally roadmapped for a late 2003 debut. When that was the case, Nvidia had a revised version, the NV45, on its roadmap for a Q2 2004 introduction. The Nv45 was due to be Nvidia's first native PCI Express part, with the NV40 offered in both AGP 8x and PCI Express forms. Recent speculation has centred on major design changes made by Nvidia to the NV40 core. Certainly, ATI is believed to have binned its next-generation R400 part in favour of a souped-up version of its R300 architecture, the R420. Blijkbaar krijgt de NV40 (volgens jouw bron) toch een PCI-E - AGP brdige chip. 13-april is al minder dan een maand, dus we weten het snel genoeg. Jammer dat er op de CeBit 2004 niets te vinden zal zijn over de NV40 en R420, had ik wel gehoopt. misschien heb ik nog geluk morgen maar ik verwacht niets.

Vandaag heb ik gehoord dat S3 de nieuwe DeltaChrome F1 heeft gereleased. Dit zou een proc moeten zijn van hetzelfde kaliber als de R420!!! met dezelfde launch data... ik hoop dat dat klopt.
