anoniem Geplaatst: 18 januari 2002 Delen Geplaatst: 18 januari 2002 Kwam net wat info tegen over MadOnion's 3DMark2001 Second Edition: Support for Microsoft DirectX 8.1 Fully compatible with Windows XP A new DirectX 8.1 feature test, utilizing Pixel Shader 1.4! Updated ‘System Info’ which can display additional system configuration info, including installed hard drives and AGP settings. The usage of compressed textures has been optimized. Support for the latest AMD and Intel processors. All reported compatibility issues fixed. Benchmark results from the original release of 3DMark2001 and 3DMark2001 SE are comparable. anoniem Geplaatst: 18 januari 2002 Auteur Delen Geplaatst: 18 januari 2002 hm, verder geen nieuwe game tests dus?

When I ran 3DMark2001 SE yesterday and was greated with a new test titled "Advanced Pizel Shaders", right away I thought Advanced = Pixel Shader V1.4. So I was pretty surprised when it ran on my GF3 Ti 200. Now that MadOnion's site is running much smoother than yesterday, the FAQ provided the answer to my question. Q: The Advanced Pixel Shader test is supposed to test 1.4 pixel shader capability. I have a GeForce3 graphics card and can run that test just fine. Does this mean my GF3 can do pixel shader 1.4? A: No, your GF3 cannot do pixel shader 1.4! The Advanced Pixel Shader test has a fall-back, using pixel shader 1.0, which is supported by your GF3. Hence the name Advanced Pixel Shader test, and not Pixel Shader 1.4 test. That same water effect can be achieved using pixel shader 1.0 but then the water surface is drawn in two passes, compared to a single pass on pixel shader 1.4 (or higher) hardware. Q: Will the Advanced Pixel Shader test run faster on graphics cards that support 1.4 pixel shaders? A: The Advance Pixel Shader test is what we call a Feature Test, which means that we above all want to present some new technology. It was decided that a fall-back was to be included in addition to the 1.4 pixel shader, since a same looking effect can be achieved using pixel shader 1.1. These two different modes of that same test work a bit differently, and should therefore not be directly compared. Both two modes could be optimized to show more performance either way, but now the test is just optimized for maximum compatibility. Vertex shader performance also affects the score somewhat due to this compatibility optimization. [/quote:270809c820] Quote Link naar reactie
anoniem Geplaatst: 17 februari 2002 Auteur Delen Geplaatst: 17 februari 2002 nog een nieuwtje voro Kyro II gebruikers: [quote:7b84b76b4e]As most Kyro(2) videocard owners prolly already have noticed there are incompatibility issues with the updated 3D Mark 2001 SE. It seems that PowerVR will release new drivers which will fix the issues found in 3DMark2001 SE. Here's the info found at Beyond3D: **** I should have been more specific. Currently the High Poly test (the dragon thing with 1 or 8 lights) can have missing geometry/flickering. This should be fixed in the next driver release (15.xx). The vertex shader test seems to have a "twitch", it seem to jump back in time and occasionally show an older frame. This should also be fixed in the next driver release (15.xx). I have tested both scenes today and they were wroking as expected (crosses fingers). _________________ Kristof Developer Relations Engineer PowerVR Technologies Technical Editor Beyond3D **** [/quote:7b84b76b4e] Quote Link naar reactie
