Tot hoe groot HD ondersteuning in Bios

Wie kan mij vertellen tot welke grote de harddisk ondersteuning is in het volgende bios. Bios type Award Modulair Bios v4.51PG Bios ID: 07/28/98-i440BX-<<P2B>>-00 Bios Eval: ASUS P2B ACPI BIOS Revision 1005 Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 2 Superio: Winbond 977TF rev 0 found at port 3Foh (Pentium 2 350 Mhz) En waar kan ik eventueel een update vandaan halen?.

Die update kan je [url=http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_dl_menu.asp]hier[/url] vandaan halen. Waarschijnlijk fixt die bios ieg ook de 32 GB Disksize limit. Volgens bij kan kan dat verschillen want je kunt op meerdere manieren dat berekenen. Het aantal sectors * head * enz. (weet ik niet meer) Maar als je een schijf hebt die niet herkend word dan kn het zijn dat je in het bios de schijf op LBA Detectie methode.

Alle harddisks van tegenwooordig gebruiken de LBA medthode, dus dat moet geen probleem zijn.

Alvast bedankt,...maar nu vond ik deze -pflash.exe- "Flash for P2B Series Motherboard Solve for P2B series motherboard having unknown Flash ROM detected. ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. " En ik vond deze "Download bxd21123.zip (213952 bytes, 2000/3/13)" Waarin een bestand zit 1012d2.003 Ben nu enigzins verward :???:

Waar heb je die file vandaan? die 1012.003 is de biosfile, en die pflash.exe is het flashprogramma. Lees de instructies die er bij zitten eens, daarin staat oa hoe je hem gebruiken moet.

Via de link die je eerder gaf kwam ik deze file's tegen. Even verder zoeken en toen kwam ik nog de aflash.zip file tegen versie 2.1 en 2.2 (heb ze allebei gedownload) Bij die aflash.zip zit het progr. aflash.exe en een textfile met uitleg. Managing and Updating Your BIOS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1 Upon First Use of the Computer System It is recommended that you save a copy of the original motherboard BIOS along with a Flash Memory Writer utility (AFLASH.EXE) to a bootable floppy disk in case you need to reinstall the BIOS later. AFLASH.EXE is a Flash Memory Writer utility that updates the BIOS by uploading a new BIOS file to the programmable flash ROM on the motherboard. This file works only in DOS mode. To determine the BIOS version of your motherboard, check the last four numbers of the code displayed on the upper left-hand corner of your screen during bootup. Larger numbers represent a newer BIOS file. 1.Type FORMAT A:/S at the DOS prompt to create a bootable system floppy disk. Niet echt verbaasd, maar ik vond het formaat een beetje raar. Meestal eindigen biosfiles op .BIN, en niet op .003, vandaar :smile:

Nog een opmerking. Gebruik geen Windows 95 op die Pentium want die herkent ook geen HDD's boven de 32GB.

We komen verder. Nee geen zorgen het OS is Win98. Maar nu nog de vraag, gebruik ik de pflash of de aflash.exe En ja ik dacht ook dat de files de ext. BIN hadden. Maar deze werd uitgepakt als .003 kan dit zijn omdat het een beta is zoals erbij stond vermeld?

Nog even een laatste vraag aan micky_g. Kun je evengoed de bewuste file met de ext. .003 gebruiken voor het flashen van het bios of moet dit perse de ext. BIN hebben. :?

Ik heb een asus p2b-s met laatste bios (1013-7 is voor de -s de laatste) en heb een 80 GIG maxtor, zonder problemen aangesloten. De grens voor een 2pb schijnt(!?) te liggen op 128 GIG.... Zonder de laatste bios bleef hij hangen op 32 GIG. Er is overigens nog een laatste beta bios voor de p2b : de 1014-01 pflash is een flasher voor notebooks (!) niet gebruiken dus! Je moet de gewone aflash.exe hebben. Bij mijn weten zijn bios files voor asus altijd *.bin files... Voor het raadplegen van updates in de toekomst raad ik overigens aan om altijd de duitse site te bezoeken en niet de amerikaans, er schijnen verschillen te kunnen zijn tussen een amerikaans of taiwannees boord en een europees bord, de duitse site is in principe de plaats waar je je updates vandaan moet halen en niet de .com of .tw site http://www.asuscom.de/support/techmain/bios/bioslink.htm De *.003 file betekent dat het een beta is en moet (waarschijnlijk) worden hernoemd naar *.bin , weet dit niet zeker, dit was voorheen nl niet zo.... je kunt het bios gewoon met die filenaam flashen.... als hij naar de bios file vraagt moet je alleen de goede naam aangeven (met extensie .003 dus!)
