Lijkt me wel makkelijk om een draadje te starten met goede Open Source software / freeware die peperdure softwarepakketten kunnen vervangen. Wanneer je je er in verdiept een aardige vervanging voor Adobe Photoshop / PSP. [b:2f2f54c49e]FireFox[/b:2f2f54c49e] is een browser gebaseerd op Mozilla / Netscape en is dankzij de velen gratis te downloaden extensions (uitbreidingen) zelf perfect te configureren. [b:2f2f54c49e]Thunderbird[/b:2f2f54c49e] is een mail/newsreader gebaseerd op de mail/newsreader van Mozilla. Heel erg makkelijk is bijvoorbeeld de functie om vanuit de openoffice.org tekstverwerker een document meteen op te slaan als PDF.

Met een beetje goeie wil kun je nagenoeg elke betaalde softwaretitel vervangen voor een gratis alternatief, en dan tref je meestal een programma die meer, sneller, of effectiever werkt dan z'n betaalde opponent.
