[RH 7.2] X om zeep ?!

HI, ben ik bezig een nieuwe kernel te bouwen, dat wil zeggen, mijn kernel 2.4.17 aan te passen naar usb support (wegens een nieuwe scanner), doet X het niet meer. Foutmelding (ongeveer): kan geen screens vinden. Bij het kernel compileren heb ik geen foutmeldingen gezien, en ik ben tot en met make modules_install gekomen. Daarna is de pc een paar dagen niet aangeweest. Bij het opstarten met mijn oude kernel bleek dat X het niet meer doet. De nieuwe kernelimage en System.map kopieeren naar de /boot en zo heeft niet geholpen. Wat deed ik fout en hoe kan ik het verhelpen? TIA, Greetz, dJezzer 8)

Dat is denk ik ook het probleem (?). In ieder geval, ik hoor graag hoe ik e.e.a. netjes (= zonder herinstallatie) kan oplossen. Alvast bedankt, greetz, dJezzer 8)

Bij het herbouwen van de kernel heb ik dezelfde config file gebruikt als bij mijn vorige kernel (eveneens 2.4.17) - met als verschil dat ik usb-support heb aangezet. Zou volgens mij geen invloed mogen hebben op X ??? Ik heb indertijd de nvidia drivers overgehaald en geinstalleerd, daarna ook met tuxracer geen problemen meer gehad :D Nadat ik voor het eerst constateerde dat X het niet meer deed, heb ik XF86config (vanuit de RedHat setup) gedraaid. De output hiervan heb ik hierboven gepost. Ik heb nog eens gekeken naar die module GLcore, die zou ontbreken, maar die bestaat gewoon nog op het systeem (volgens locate). Iemand nog suggesties? Misschien dat je iets aan [url=http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia_tsg.xml]dit[/url] hebt. Het lijkt er iig op dat je GLCore niet moet gebruiken als je de nvidia-driver gebruikt. Mogelijk maakt XFree gebruik van een symlink naar GLcore, die door de vorige setup van XFree (met de nvidia-drivers), is verwijderd. Zowiezo moet je bij een nieuwe kernel de nvidia-driver opnieuw compileren, omdat die anders niet meer met de kernel overweg kan. Dit is waarschijnlijk de reden dat Xfree niet meer werkte. De reden dat Xfree nu niet werkt zit hem waarschijnlijk in GLcore
